Digital Camera in house review for Canon IXUS 60

The Canon IXUS 60 digital camera is a 6 mega pixel, 3x optical zoom with 2.5" LCD screen digital camera. The popular Canon IXUS range has the famous metal alloy metal exterior mixing with style and ultra compact design. The Canon IXUS60 now has recording in widescreen format and ISO up to 800.

A quick overview of Canon IXUS 60 and it's features:

  • Movie Mode: YES. Movie with sound. 640x480 @ 30 frames per second unlimited up to 1GB (approx 8 min 35 seconds on a 1 GB card). This is full screen size and high quality, very smooth.
  • LCD Screen: 2.5" LCD fixed screen
  • Viewfinder: Yes
  • Memory Card: SD memory card
  • Battery type: Lithium Ion battery (NB-4L). Battery and charger included
  • TV Out: Yes, Av cable included
  • Buyer's Guide: The Canon IXUS 60 digital camera is the replacement model for the Canon IXUS 55. Basically, both cameras are very similar with the inclusions of recording in widescreen format and higher ISO (up to 800) which means better pictures in low light conditions. The Canon IXUS60 still retains the huge 2.5" LCD screen, and also a viewfinder which is useful for bright light conditions or in power saving mode. The Canon IXUS 60 is a great camera for those who want a stylish, small ultra compact digital camera which they can carry in their pocket or handbag. Very easy to use to use with preset shooting modes.

Test Results:

Automatic mode Day shot testing (Outdoor):

Testing setting: Automatic mode, auto white balance, flash off, 6M pixels super fine quality and tripod is not used.

The Canon IXUS 60 is very easy to use and I like the metal solid feeling of the camera case. As we can see in the following photos, thanks to the Canon DIG!C II sensor, the colour saturation is very good and easy to get good daily photos simply by using its auto mode. If Canon can integrate the image stabilizer technology into the IXUS range, it's even better.

Night shot testing (Outdoor):

Testing setting: preset Night shot mode, auto white balance, flash off, superfine quality and tripod is not used.

Too much trouble to bring a tripod? Want to take a photo with your friends after dinner? Therefore, I test the Canon IXUS 60 digital camera night shot mode without using a tripod. By leaning against a wall and holding my breath, I can still get a night shot photo without using tripod. Of course, I need to take a few shots to get a clear photo.

Automatic mode Indoor testing:

Testing setting: Automatic mode with widescreen format, auto white balance, auto flash on superfine quality and tripod is not used.

Canon applies widescreen format to its new range of digital cameras, it's very helpful for group photo or widescreen format property photo for real estate advertising purpose.

Auto flash goes off automatically in indoor low light environment, slightly noise generated but hard to see.
