The bigger zoom is especially useful for those who like taking picture's of long distant objects or just picture's of the kids at sporting events. Test Results:

Automatic mode Day shot testing (Outdoor):

Testing setting: Automatic mode, auto white balance, flash off, superfine quality and tripod is not used.

Sun is playing hide and seek with me since Canon A700 digital camera launched in the market. Luckily, I got half of the sky with sunshine this weekend. Therefore, I quickly take a shot on the sunny side. Of course, Canon A700 digital camera does not let me me down. The day shot quality is very good just like other Canon cameras. The 6X optical zoom allow me to take a clear picture of the other side of river. We can see the "BALMAIN SHORES" clearly written on wall from the picture taken.

Automatic mode Day shot testing (Indoor):

Testing setting: Automatic mode, auto white balance, auto flash on superfine quality and tripod is not used.

The indoor photo generated by Canon A700 digital camera is nice and easy, not too bright or too dark with auto mode. The colour of photo is very close to true colour from my point of view.

Auto mode standard auto flash

Wide screen format picture testing (Outdoor):

Nothing is so easy as taking a wide screen format photos by Canon A700 digital camera, simply select the "W-wide format photo" in the function mode and put the setting in auto mode with auto flash. Point and shoot; nothing to worry about. My personal opinion, Canon A700 gives me better wide format photo quality in auto mode by comparing to Canon A530 and A540 digital cameras.

Macro testing:

Testing setting: Macro mode, auto white balance, flash off, superfine quality and tripod is not used.

Canon Powershot A700 has good macro quality with up to 1.5cm close up to the subject according to my test. Of course, the camera lens is too close to the subject, therefore, the focus is actually on the left down corner. I Just want to know how close Canon A700 still can take photos. If I keep 3cm to the subject will definitely get better macro photos.

approx. 1.5cm close up

Night shot testing part 1:

Testing setting: preset Night shot mode, auto white balance, flash off, superfine quality and tripod is used.

By using the preset night shot mode in Canon A700 will not get the best night shot, but it's easy for users. If you have time to play around with A700, you can get better night shot photos by adjusting the ISO in manual mode. The Canon A700 has wide range of ISO from 80-800 to chose from.
