Below is our in house review of the Powershot A620. We are not professional camera reviewers, we only do a test of the camera as an average user to see photo quality and ease of use. For detailed specifications of the camera please visit the Canon Australia Website. The photo used here has not been altered in any way with software and no external flash/lighting was used.
Automatic mode Day shot testing (Outdoor):
Testing setting: Automatic mode, auto white balance, flash off, superfine quality and tripod is used.
Excellent outdoor photos are generated by automatic mode without flash.

Automatic mode Day shot testing (Indoor):
Testing setting: Automatic mode, auto white balance, auto flash on superfine quality and tripod is not used.
I am satisfied with the photos generated by Canon A620 automatic mode with auto flash under low light situation. The noise is minimized in 4X Zoom-in compared to other compact size digital cameras.

Canon A620 has superb macro quality close up to 1cm and imaging is still good.

Night shot testing part 1:
Testing setting: preset Night shot mode, auto white balance, flash off, superfine quality and tripod is used.
By using Canon Powershot A620 preset night shot mode, it seems both of the pictures bellowing are not exposed enough. Therefore we can not see the buildings clearly. The results are not satisfied even with the build-in flash turned on.

Night shot testing part 2:
Testing setting: aperture priority mode, auto white balance, ISO 100, 200, 400, flash off, superfine quality and tripod is used.
By using the aperture priority mode, we can see the ISO 100 setting with a little bit improvement. With ISO 200 setting, it comes out with the best night shot picture. However, it creates too many noise when using the ISO 400 setting. We can easily see the superb 4X optical zoom zooming quality from the photos shown bellowing.

Summary:
Based on our own in house testing of the Canon A620 we were very pleased with the daylight/outdoor, up close macro picture quality. We found that the shutter lag time was minimal and start up time was very quick. The daylight photos and macro mode photos were very rich and vibrant in colour.
In night shot or indoor mode we felt using the Aperture Priority Mode produced much better quality photos than the pre set night scene mode.
Depending on the size of your hand, some may say the A620 is a compact size digital camera or for those who have small hands a bit too big. For females who want a camera that can fit in their handbag, will find it slightly big... On the other hand, it has a very good grip hold, spaced out function and menu buttons for ease of use.
The movie with sound mode was very impressive, full screen size and fluid movements. You can record up to 1GB (approx 9 minutes and 35 seconds) without stopping. Only setback was no zooming function whilst in movie mode.
Finally, to show the why people buy a 7 mega pixel camera, below we used a picture from above (picture A) and cropped the AMP Tower. You can see the higher the mega pixel the more you can crop, without losing picture quality.
