Digital Camera Blog for Olympus SP550 Ultra Zoom

Thanks to an user giving us some feedback of using Olympus SP-550 Ultra zoom digital camera. He feels the Olympus SP550 is a right size camera for him, not too big to fit in a medium size camera bag or too heavy with 4 AA NIMH rechargeable batteries. The user is amazed by the 18X optical zoom with a medium size camera body comparing to the equivalent zooming capability exchangeable telephoto lens. Of course, he will not say the image quality is as sharp as the expensive SLR telephone lens. However, he personally believe the image quality with the 18X zooming capability is over his expectation with this price range. He told us he will travel with the Olympus SP550 instead of carrying all his SLR bits and pieces in the backpack from now on. He believes Olympus SP550 should be able to handle all his family photos indoor and outdoor for his overseas travel.

In his experience with Olympus SP550, he says 4 rechargeable AA batteries usually enough for his 2GB xD card, but it's better to have extra 4 backup batteries for night shots. He is also telling us he is impressed with the Hybrio rechargeable batteries which remain charged after so many days when he forgot the charger in the second last day in his last trip. He did not want to buy a new charger because he has another charger at home.
