Digital Camera review for Olympus MJU 720

The Olympus MJU 720 is a 7.1 mega pixel, 3x optical zoom, 2.5" LCD screen and does movies with sound. The Olympus MJU 720 (Olympus MJU 720SW) is a first from Olympus with underwater capabilities up to 3 metres and shock proof up to 1.5 metres. The camera body has a very solid metal feeling and compact size. The shock proof and water proof features are very good buying features for digital cameras. As we all know digital camera is mostly damaged by either dropping or water. Therefore, these 2 features may help to terminate most users' nightmare in using digital cameras. I find the water proof feature is very useful for family with kids who like to play in the swimming pool. Parents can actually join their kids in the swimming pool and record the invaluable memory without worrying about damage the camera by water.

Automatic mode Day shot testing (Outdoor):

Testing setting: Automatic mode, auto white balance, flash off, superfine quality 7.1M Pixel and tripod is not used.

By comparing picture 01 and picture 02, we can see the zooming result of Olympus MJU 720 3X optical zoom. The day shot photos are nice and easy. By taking advantage of the water proof and shock proof features, Olympus MJU 720 digital camera will be a good companion for you when you are going for  a trip everywhere.

Macro testing:

Testing setting: Macro mode, auto white balance, flash off, superfine quality and tripod is not used.

The macro feature of Olympus MJU 720 requires minimum 5cm to the subject is a bit too far. However, this is not a major concern for daily photos.

Night shot testing part 1:

Testing setting: preset Night shot mode, auto white balance, flash off, superfine quality 7.1M pixels and tripod is used.

The Olympus preset night shot mode is very pleased to use. The night shot outcome for a compact size digital camera is excellent. According to our test, the ISO chosen in the preset night shot mode is excellent, the night shot photos have the brightest result with minimum noise. Olympus mju 720 has wide range of ISO up to 1600, users can use the manual mode to play around different ISO setting.
