Sony Cybershot DSC-W30, DSC-W50 Digital camera review

At first look at the Sony DSC-W30 (2.0" LCD Screen) and Sony DSC-W50 (2.5" LCD screen) digital cameras I was impressed by their attractive body design, slimline compact design. These two cameras are not fully made of metal, however, they feel like metal bodies due to high quality exterior paint. The Sony DSC-W30 and DSC-W50 digital cameras come with lithium rechargeable batteries and chargers. Their selling price at around $400. They are both good value for money. Both cameras have a viewfinder and easy to use control buttons and menu system. Let's have a look at some photos generated by Sony DSC-W30 digital camera here.

Sony has introduced widescreen photo format into the Cybershot DSC-W30 and DSC-W50 digital cameras. The Sony DSC-W30 and DSC-W50 digital cameras generate brighter outdoor portrait photos compared to other camera brands according to our testing.

Camera setting: auto mode with automatic flash, photo is taken by 6 mega pixels wide screen 16:9 format.

I name the following photo as "going home" due to the romantic sunset scene and the yummy smell of BBQ nearby. I am cold and hungry....

In preset Macro mode, the photo subject can be up to 3cm close according to our testing. We can see the detail of the following photo generated by Sony DSC-W30 macro mode. In order to avoid shadow, I held the camera in a tilt position. Therefore, we can see the focus is on the upper side of the key. Of course, a better outcome can be achieved by using macro stand and external light source.

Tripod or macro stand is not used.

The following night shot was taken by preset night shot mode with flash turned off. Tripod is used in the testing. Sony Cybershot DSC-W30 and DSC-W50 digital cameras have wide range of ISO from 80 to 1000.
