I tested the Panasonic DMC-LZ5 digital camera at small park in Pyrmont Sydney. Not like the usual, I chose the time at 5:00pm during sunset in Sydney Australia. Let's see some photos taken in the golden sunset with Panasonic LZ5. Maybe will give us different feeling.
In order to test the digital camera from users point of view, I simply use the auto mode with automatic flash. Of course, the picture quality is always set in best quality and highest resolution. It is 6 mega pixels for Panasonic Lumix LZ5 and the optical image stabilizer (MEGA O.I.S.) has been turned on. The SD memory card used is TEKQ 80X SD 1GB flash memory card. Tripod is not used for day shots. All photos have been resized to 500X375 pixels in order to shorten web page download time.
Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ5 digital camera can generate good photos with appropriate exposure and sharpness.
It is so romantic taking a walk with your partner during sunset.

The following photo is taken at 11:00am near Darling Harbour Sydney with Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ5 digital camera. The high angle 2.0 inch LCD screen (brighter LCD) does help a bit under big sunny day to have a better view of photo objects.

Now let's have a look at the result of superb 6X optical zoom by comparing these two photos below; thanks to the 6X optical zoom, the Harbour Bridge is just like in front of us.

Now, let's go back indoors and see the indoor photo result. Point and shoot, it's very easy.

Well, the night shot is the same scene like my other reviews. Sorry, it's cold at night. The night shot result is clear with preset night scenery mode with minimum noise generated. The photo exposure is just fine, not too bright and not too dark.

Although the Panasonic DMC-LZ5 is not a fancy designed digital camera, I personally believe it has outstanding product features such as optical image stabilizer, 6X optical zoom, 6 mega pixels CCD sensor with a reputable Leica lens plus reasonable retail price will draw a lot of attention from digital camera buyers. This camera is for those who want above average optical zoom in a compact sized digital camera. The optical image stabilizer is great for those who have shaky hands, taking photos of moving subjects or indoor, night shots (auto mode with flash turned on) for blur free photos.
